Recently, BTW has secured orders for a total of 23 transformers by winning bids for a hydropower project in Ethiopia and a new energy project in Saudi Arabia, which not only demonstrates the company's competitive edge in the overseas hydropower sector but also marks a breakthrough in the new energy market.
The Koysha Hydropower Station in Ethiopia is a core project under the country’s energy development plan, with a total installed capacity of 1,800 MW. Upon completion, the project is expected to generate over 6 billion kWh of electricity annually, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 1 million tons each year. It will provide solid support for green energy transition in East Africa and contribute to energy cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. Leveraging its strong technical expertise, proven track record, and reputable industry standing, BTW outperformed all competitors and won the order for 19 units of 400 kV main transformers for the station.
The Yanbu Wind Power Project in Saudi Arabia is a key initiative under the fourth round of the country's Renewable Energy Program, with an installed capacity of 700 MW. It will support Saudi Arabia's strategic goal of achieving 50% renewable energy usage by 2030. BTW secured the order for 4 units of 110 kV transformers for this project, marking its second contract in the country following the earlier PP15 project and representing a further expansion into the new energy sector.
