Today, we present the second issue: ”Greatness of BTW | ’Great Power’s Heavy Equipment ‘Holds Up the Energy Backbone in Serving the ’Belt and Road ‘Construction”.
During the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, BTW actively responded to national strategies and fully dedicated to serving the construction of the “Belt and Road.” The company exported over 150 power transmission and transformation products to countries along the “Belt and Road,” including Greece, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Uruguay, assisting local industrial production, livelihood guarantees, and economic and social development.

1. Pakistan Thar Coalfield Block I Coal-Power Integration Project
BTW undertook the manufacturing of 10 units of 30MVA/550kV reactors. These were successfully energized in October 2022, ensuring the project’s entry into commercial operation and providing a solid guarantee for improving Pakistan’s energy structure and enhancing energy security. This project is a key project in Pakistan’s energy sector and a key energy cooperation project promoted under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. After commissioning, it provides approximately 9 billion kWh of electricity annually to the Pakistani national grid, meeting the electricity needs of nearly 4 million local households.

2. Uzbekistan Sukhandarya 1600MW Combined Cycle Power Plant Project
BTW is manufacturing 3 units of 535MVA/525kV main transformers, which are scheduled to be produced and shipped in 2025. This project is the gas combined cycle power plant with the largest single-unit installed capacity in Uzbekistan and serves as a landmark project for the country’s energy structure transformation and carbon neutrality.

3. Greece National Grid Project
BTW signed a framework supply agreement for 20 units of 400kV three-phase autotransformers, marking the largest single contract for China’s export to the EU market. The first 280MVA/400kV three-phase autotransformer has been successfully energized and put into operation, and 16 units have been smoothly delivered to the client. This project will significantly enhance the stability and power supply capacity of the Greek power grid, providing strong power support for Greece’s economic and social development.

4. Kyrgyzstan Bishkek Power Equipment Upgrade and Renovation Project
BTW undertook the manufacturing of 3 units of 40MVA/550kV reactors. This was the company’s first “short, flat, and fast” (rapid and efficient) export project. Despite the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on production, the company delivered and installed the equipment on schedule, receiving high praise from the client. As a key livelihood project in Kyrgyzstan, it effectively resolved the power shortage in the capital, Bishkek, gaining high recognition from the local government and people.

5. Philippines LASSO Project
BTW undertook the manufacturing of 1 unit of 500MVA/500kV three-phase integrated split transformer, which is the axial split transformer with the highest voltage level and largest capacity developed by the company. This project involves the upgrade and renovation of the Philippine power grid. It passed dual tests based on international standards and the Philippine National Grid Corporation, with key indicators reaching industry-leading levels.

6. Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) Project
BTW undertook the manufacturing of 3 units of 500MVA/400kV autotransformers. The product structure is complex, with a main body transport weight exceeding 220 tons. Upon completion, the project will effectively assist in Oman’s energy transformation and upgrade and drive a significant increase in local export business.

7. Uruguay China-Uruguay 500kV Transmission and Transformation Ring Network Closure Project
BTW provided 29 reactors with voltage levels of 500kV, 110kV, and 31.5kV for this project, representing the largest single bid won by the company in a country along the “Belt and Road.” Upon completion and operation, the project will improve the Uruguayan power grid’s ability to consume power over large ranges and long distances, ameliorate the power supply situation, and promote coordinated and orderly local economic and social development.

8. Bangladesh Payra 2×660MW Coal-Fired Power Plant Project
BTW undertook the manufacturing of 7 units of 270MVA/400kV main transformers and 1 unit of 80MVA/400kV start-up standby transformer. This project is an important support for pragmatic cooperation in the “Belt and Road” energy and power sector between China and Bangladesh, and it is the coal-fired power plant project with the largest capacity and highest parameters in Bangladesh.

9. Saudi Arabia Red Sea New City Energy Storage Project
BTW undertook the manufacturing of 2 units of 40Mvar/110kV three-phase shunt reactors. This project is a key project listed in Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” plan. With an energy storage scale of 1300MWh, it is currently the world’s largest energy storage project and the world’s largest off-grid energy storage project.

10. Indonesia OBI 1×150 MW Power Plant Project
BTW undertook the manufacturing of 5 power transformers, including 230kV main transformers, interconnecting transformers, start-up standby transformers, and high-voltage station service transformers.
